About me

I'm a person centred counsellor with over thirty years clinical experience of working with both couples and individuals.

In 1975 I trained as a nurse in the NHS, working in both mental health and general nursing. While nursing I felt that many of the mental health problems people were suffering with could have been helped at a much earlier stage with counselling or psychotherapy.  I left nursing to have my two children but, in 1988 decided to train as a relationship counsellor with Relate.  I remained with Relate for eight years then went on to develop my own private counselling practice.  At the same time I completed a degree in therapeutic counselling at Leeds Metropolitan University and went on to study brief dynamic psychotherapy. I have worked in various medical settings and Employee Assisted Programs (EAP's) over the years.

I have also completed training in Hypnotherapy, Trama and Supervision.

There are many different theoretical approaches to counselling, and the relationship between client and therapist is paramount in all of them.  I have many years experience in dealing with a wide range of issues and problems and tailor my approach to your individual needs.
